Series: Religious Nature of the Psyche:
Myth, Ritual, Symbol and Meaning - Part 6 of 7

Hinduism: Path to the Soul:
A Jungian rendering of the Hindu Path to Healing, Health and Wholeness

Presented by Ashok Bedi, M.D.

By decoding incarnate symbols in our life, this lecture will integrate Hindu and Jungian perspectives to establish a path to the soul. These symbols manifest as dreams, fantasies, complexes, synchronistic events, accidents, relationship tangles, creative outputs, and medical and psychiatric symptoms. These symbols have the potential to renew and rekindle the vitality and purposefulness of our life. Specifically, we will explore the myth of the god Ganesha - an archetype for Removal of Obstacles and Auspicious New Beginnings.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the basic tenants of the Hindu path to the soul
  • Describe the concepts of Maya, Karma and Dharma
  • Identify the fundamentals of Yoga from an analytical perspective of Ganesha as an archetype of auspicious new beginnings
