Looking at Children's Stories Through a Jungian Lens
Presented by Gloria Avrech, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.
Edith Sullwold had a special gift for honoring the child's psyche and a deep love and appreciation for children's literature. In celebration of her spirit, this lecture will focus on both familiar and less known children's stories from authors such as Seuss, Wise Brown, Liao. Through group discussion, the symbols and themes of each story will be amplified from a depth psychology perspective.
Course Objectives:
- Identify three core themes in analytical psychology
- Describe what is meant by amplification
- Give an example of amplification using a children's story
