In the series Divination:

I Ching:
Divining the Way of Change

Presented by Stephen Karcher, Ph.D.

The I Ching is the world’s oldest and most sophisticated tradition of wisdom divination. Born in ancient China, its symbols connect with and develop key aspects in our own Western heritage. In this workshop we will explore the uniqueness of the Way/Dao of Change and consider where the tradition comes from, how it works, how we enter it, and the effects that it can have upon us and our sense of our own culture. We will end with individual and group divinations regarding the problems we face today with a consideration of the connection between the personal and the cultural.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the evolution of the tradition of Change
  • Compare the I Ching to modern scientific and depth psychological approaches and to the process of change in the individual and culture
  • Participate in a group divination on an individual and cultural issue, and describe the reading technique that applies the symbols to modern issues
