Part I: The Need to "Go Home Again"

Presented by Allen D. Koehn, D. Min.

In part one of this two-part series, Allen Koehn will return to his religious and spiritual roots as he draws on his years as an ordained Presbyterian minister, practicing therapist, Jungian analyst and teacher of Depth Psychology. Utilizing images from the Old and New Testament such as Eden, the Exodus, fear of God, Job, Sin and Salvation, and Grace and the Holy Spirit, he will reflect on some of the experiences that drew him to a religious life. This talk will be particularly meaningful for those who have had a traditional religious background and have also been drawn to Jung and his work.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe some commonalities between Jung's approach to the unconscious and a religious attitude
  • Analyze one image from the Old or New Testament in a psychological context
  • Discuss how living a religious life can influence one's viewpoint as an analyst

Allen D. Koehn, D. Min., is a Jungian analyst in private practice in Los Olivos. He is a core faculty member of the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria and also served as Executive Director of the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
