The Shadow of the Narcissistic Father
A Jungian/Bionian View
Presented by JoAnn Culbert-Koehn, L.C.S.W.
- Sold Out
Respondent(s): James Gooch, M.D.
Barbara Stephens loved film, art and clinical exploration from multiple
vertices. This presentation will began with excerpts from a recently released film about the artist Louise Bourgeois in which the full depth of the "narcissistic father complex " is exposed. The theme of the narcissistic father will be further amplified through clinical material. What positive, growthful
fathering of daughters might look like will also be explored by speaker and audience.
This presentation is not just for fathers and daughters, or women only. Please join us for this lively discussion and plan to contribute.
Course Objectives:
- Identify characteristics of the narcissistic father
- Describe how the lifelong consequences of this relationship between father and daughter play out over the life cycle
- Develop a model for fathering which promotes individuation
