The Analytical Psychology Club presents:

The Witch:
Negative Mother / Anima or Agent of Transformation?

Presented by Christi Taylor-Jones, M.F.T.

Jung considered the witch to be an expression of both the anima and the mother archetype in their most negative form. Although our modern image of the witch emerged into consciousness through fairytales, her roots can be traced to the ancient goddesses who embodied both the nurturing and destructive elements of the feminine. In this presentation we will retrace some of these roots, demonstrating that the witch is a multi-faceted expression of the feminine which is both destructive and transformative. Using examples of the witch as she appears in dreams, sandtrays and bodily experiences of both men and women, analyst and analysand, we will explore how an understanding of the witch can heal the split and facilitate transformation and individuation.

Christi Taylor-Jones, M.F.T., is in private practice in Encino and Westwood. She is also a writer and control-stage candidate in the analyst training program at the C.G. Jung Institute in Los Angeles.
