In the series Clinical Issues:
Presented by Janie Ingalls, R.N., M.F.T.
Many patients have been shamed by the
experience of trauma. Isolated by the need to keep their trauma secret, they live in fear of retaliation by their perpetrator or of their own decompensation if the details of the trauma were to become known. This presentation will focus on the use of collage, which allows patients to express their wounding in the silence, safety, and control of their own experience.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the isolation and resistance dynamics of traumatized individuals
- Apply the technique of active imagination using collage for traumatized individuals by creating one's own collage
- Identify ways in which working with collage can help patients integrate traumatic material
Janie Ingalls, R.N., M.F.T., is a candidate in training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. She has been in private practice for 16 years in Huntington Beach.
