Date and Time: 4-week online workshop, Tuesdays, November 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026, 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Format: Zoom only.

Continuing Education: 8 CE credits available. No partial credit will be awarded.

In this four-week online workshop, participants deepen their understanding of a Grimm fairy tale through experiential engagement, making its symbolic meaning accessible on both personal and archetypal levels. Embodying images that arise from the unconscious can have healing effects, fostering a renewed attitude toward the past, which often remains imprisoned or dormant within the psyche. Painting offers an experiential, non-verbal path to accessing these energies. For health professionals, the practice of exploring personal inner images supports the development of skills to help guide clients toward renewed attitudes and symbolic depth, consistent with C.G. Jung's approach to clinical work.

This workshop is for adults only; no previous painting experience is necessary.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate how symbolic content expressed through painting images from the unconscious can help clinicians guide clients through trauma and crisis situations.
  • Describe an obstacle that can arise when expressing inner images through painting, and explain how to work with it clinically.
  • Define shadow work as expressed through the symbols of inner images.
  • Describe how painting symbols from the unconscious can have a healing effect on clients.
  • Describe how this technique can be used to guide clients during periods of emotional transition.
  • Explain how creating an image with the hands can stimulate a more active psychological attitude.
  • Demonstrate the effect that a series of images has on a patient's understanding of an ongoing psychological process.
  • Describe how to amplify an image within a group process.
